Diwali Diva Lamps in Reception

We have really enjoyed learning about different festivals and celebrations this term. We spent some time exploring how Diwali is celebrated by Hindus.

'My Diva lamp is made of clay - it turned hard after we made it.' - Cassius

The children enjoyed reading the story of Rama and Sita and how the Diva lamps were used to guide them home. They are a symbol of light shining in the darkness in the Hindu festival of light.

We made our own Diva lamps using clay and then decorated them to make them stand out for Diwali.

We think they are wonderful! Well done Reception.
