Fantastic Fossils - Year 4

 * UPDATE!

We have made our clay fossils! We referred to our designs in our sketchbooks, and experimented with different tools to mould, shape and imprint designs into our clay. Next week we will be evaluating our fossils - being critical thinkers is an important skill as an artist!

As part of our new IPC topic - Scavengers and Settlers - Year 4 have started learning about the process of fossilisation.

We will be learning more about the Stone Age, and fossils give us an insight into the past.

Sonny excitedly shared some fossils that he had found in Dorset.
Estera also did some fossil hunting at the weekend:

We looked at some fossils and worked together to discuss what we thought they might be!

Can you guess what these fossils are? What might they tell us about the past? Do these creatures still exist? Who found them? How did they form?

Today, after experimenting with sketching techniques to create texture, Year 4 then designed their own fossil ready to make clay fossils in Art!
