Year 3's trip to Saffron Walden Museum
On Tuesday 22nd November year 3 went on a trip to Saffron Walden Museum to be Tomb Raiders and Mummy Makers.
We had a fabulous day exploring the museum and taking part in activities. The museum had a real mummy as well as lots of other artifacts that linked in with our topic for this term; Temples, Tombs, and Treasures.
In the first activity, we got to touch and learn about items that were found in an Egyptian tomb. Ancient Egyptians were buried with their belongings so they could use them in the afterlife. The items we investigated could have been as old as 7000 years old!

We then went through the process of mummification! Whilst we mummified one of our classmates we also followed the process on an orange. We need to keep our oranges in salt until they are completely dry so will be carrying this on in class. We'll keep you updated on how our oranges are doing!
