Year 4’s Breaking News!

To conclude our IPC topic (Scavengers and Settlers), Year 4 worked in groups to present a news report explaining the discovery of the Neolithic site Skara Brae in the Orkney Islands.

The children learnt about the discovery; it is an important primary source of historical significance. They then worked together to present a news report, role-playing journalists, witnesses, historians and archaeologists. 

This was also a good opportunity to work on teamwork and speaking and listening skills - sharing ideas, delegating roles and using performance techniques.
