Friendship potion in Year 1!
This week, Year 1 began their new English focus text...
The Smeds and the Smoos
We discussed how unfair it was that the Smeds and the Smoos did not initially get along or play together based on their differences. We decided that, together, we would create a recipe for a 'Friendship potion' that would help our friends get along and play together nicely! We discussed our school values such as 'kindness' and 'fairness' as key ingredients within our potion.
"Hugs can be an extra ingredient for a good friend" - William
"When you fall down, a good friend will help you up again." - Aisling
"Sharing is a sign of caring" - Norah
We then went into the outdoor area and began creating our potions. We sprinkled love, added handfuls of care and dolloped in large tablespoons of helpfulness into our pots and pans.
Over the next few days, we then began writing our instructions on how to make an effective 'Friendship potion'! We made sure to use our phonics, as well as finger spaces and time connectives to make our work really clear.
Well done Year 1 for your hard work so far this week and for always striving to be such fantastic friends!
