Autumn adventures in Reception

In Reception this week we have been enjoying learning about Autumn as it finally feels like it is here!
The weather has changed which has caused our children to make observations about their environment.
We have enjoyed looked closely at Autumn objects such as colourful leaves, pine cones, conkers, acorns and seasonal squashes.
The children have enjoyed leaf printing and mixing colours together to make the effect of an Autumn leaf. We have also explored some Autumn stories such as ‘Don’t hog the hedge’ and ‘Alfie in the woods’.

The highlight of our week has been our Autumn walk. We explored our forest school area for signs of Autumn that we had learned about in the classroom. The children found:

'A yellow leaf - it's yellow.' - Ruby
'A red leaf - it's sort of red, sort of orange.' - David
'I'm not sure we will find a squirrel, I think we are too loud.' - Eva

They are developing their observation skills and discussing what they have seen with their friends and the adults. This has created some amazing back and forth conversations.

Well done Reception!
