Great observational skills in Reception!

This week we have focused our learning around the season of 'Winter'. The children have read wintery stories such as 'One Snowy Night' by Nick Butterworth. We have also played with arctic animals in our small world area and thought carefully about how we can keep safe and warm in the winter by choosing the right clothes.

The children were so excited when we went outside to play today as so many of the wintery things we had been learning about were there for them to explore. They used their scientific observational skills to comment on what they could see in our playground.

They found frost on the sand pit and table tops, ice in the tyres and collected in the water tray and their breath was creating condensation in the air.

'I was going to put this ice in my pocket but then remembered that it will melt in there.' - Isla

'I found some smooth ice. You can see through it.' -Eva

'I can see my breath in the air.' - Logan
