Year Six coding using Scratch!

In today's Computing lesson, we delved into the intricacies of various websites, examining their structures. Our discussion revolved around the diverse forms of media employed in web design and the fundamental role of HTML in crafting websites. Subsequently, we initiated our coding journey using Scratch.

Scratch is an excellent tool for teaching coding concepts to beginners and young learners. It provides a visual interface where users can create interactive projects by snapping together code blocks. Scratch enables children to design and code games, animations, stories, and more. It provides children with access to tutorials. Parents and careers can create an account for free!

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
