Y2 Super Shapes (Maths)

11.12.23    Counting sides on 2D shapes

After sharing what we knew about shapes, we spoke to our talk partners and named as many shapes as we could. This was a great opportunity to use mathematical language. We decided if they were 2D or 3D. We also thought about how many sides a shape has. Then we explored making shapes using lolly-sticks and dienes.

“Did you know there is no such thing as an ‘upside-down triangle’?”

“Marking the sides is a good way to keep track of what sides you have counted.”
