Year 2 'Buildings' IPC Entry Point

Year 2's new IPC topic is all about..... Buildings! We are looking forward to learning about buildings, homes, landmarks and sculptures from around the world and from different periods in history. 

To start off we shared our knowledge about famous landmarks and buildings around the world including The Shard, The Pyramids, The Statue of Liberty, The Great Wall of China and Big Ben.

Then we collaborated with our friends to build a structure using given materials. We really had to think about how we worked together to be successful, and consider which materials we should use and how to fix our structure together so that it was strong and stable. Finally we measured the height of our towers, making links to our maths unit of measurement.

Year 6's Final Week at St Pius X!

It has been such a busy couple of weeks celebrating Year 6 and all their achievements throughout their time at St Pius X. We could not be prouder of how they have grown and developed over the last few years and it has been wonderful to see them reflect on their time here. We started our celebrations with our Year 6 Leavers' Mass, where the children shared some of their most precious memories with our school community. Then, we enjoyed a leavers' lunch together outside - the cake was absolutely incredible! To round off the week, the children wowed us in their performance of Cinderella Rockerfella. The audience were captivated throughout the entire show and the children should be so proud of how amazing they were! World Book Day 2024

 We were so impressed with the costumes this year!  The children (and staff) made a brilliant effort and this also encourage lots of 'Book talk' throughout the day with children role playing as their character and discussing the stories they were from.  Well done all!
