Year 1 IPC Exit Point
We marked the end of our 'People of the Past' topic by making books about a significant person we learned about this term. Students included five facts about their famous person as well as some illustrations. When they were done with their books, they read them to their classmates!
Students then made an item of their choice that would represent their significant person. Some decided to make hospitals to represent Mary Seacole, some made ships to represent Earnest Shackleton and his journey across the South Pole, and many other creative pieces. Students enjoyed being able to express their knowledge in a creative way!
The students were able to choose from a variety of resources ranging from paints, cardboard, wax crayons, and other materials!
"I made Earnest Shackleton's ship! This is what he used to sail to Elephant Island!" - Brian
"I made a hospital called 'Mary Seacole Hospital'. This is where Mary Seacole learned how to turn plants into medicine." - Kian
"I painted a lamp because Florence Nightingale was called the Lady of the Lamp. I tried to use cardboard at first, and then decided to use paint instead!" - Norah
The students were very proud of their work this term and were excited to take their work home and tell their families all about it!
