History Detectives in Year 2

The Entry Point for our new topic Time Travellers started with Year 2 putting on their detective hats to follow some clues!

Children were given some clues, or pieces of evidence that would lead to a 'mystery person.' Their job was to analyse the clues... 

What can you see? 

What does it tell you?

Are there clues missing?

Which clue is the most useful?

The children discussed their ideas and worked collaboratively to work out who the mystery person was. This was a fun way to introduce historical concepts, such as looking at primary and secondary sources and assessing their reliability.

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
