Year 2 Maths - amazing arrays!

Continuing our learning about multiplication and making links to repeated addition, Year 2 made arrays to represent different number sentences.

Did you know, arrays are all around us! Egg cartons, apps on our phones, chocolate bars...!

Nicole: 'An array has to be a square or rectangle shape.'

Benjamin: 'The rows have to be equal.'

Eva: 'You can count down or across to make different number sentences. 4 x 3 is the same as 3 x 4.'

Hannah: 'If you have 9 counters, you make different arrays. 3 x 3 or 1 x 9.'

This visual representation is a great way of seeing how multiplication works and making connections with known number facts... well done Year 2!
