Creating Portraits of Famous Historical Figures - Year One

 In our current IPC unit, 'People of the Past', we have been learning lots about different historical figures who have made an impact on our world today. This past week, we have been researching Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale. Students made portraits of the two heroines using pastels. Students discovered that blending the pastels helped to make the portraits more realistic! Great work Year One!

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
