Year 6 Writers Take on the BBC 500 Words Competition!

This week, Year 6 pupils have been busy unleashing their creativity as they plan and draft their entries for the BBC 500 Words Competition. From exciting adventures and magical worlds to heartwarming tales and thought-provoking stories, the children have been working hard to craft original and imaginative pieces of writing.


They’ve been exploring what makes a great story — developing characters, building suspense, and using powerful vocabulary to bring their ideas to life. We can’t wait to see the final versions of their entries — good luck to all our budding authors! 🌟✍️📚

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
