Year 5's class worship

What a wonderful and inspiring time we've been having during our class worship sessions in Year 5! It's been truly fantastic to see the children not just participating, but completely taking ownership of this special time together - guided by Miss Lowrey.

Planning with Purpose

Our worship isn't something that's just presented to the class; it's something the children plan and create themselves. They spend time discussing and selecting different forms of worship, making sure there's something meaningful for everyone. This includes:

  • Role Play: Acting out stories or scenarios to explore moral lessons and themes.

  • Hymns and Songs: Carefully choosing music that resonates with the message of the worship.

  • Reflection: Deciding on activities or moments for quiet contemplation.

It’s been incredible to watch their maturity shine as they decide how best to structure the session.

Centered Around a Theme

We often centre our class worship around a specific theme to help us focus our reflections. This week, for example, our theme is Kindness Week.

The children have been so thoughtful, searching for and selecting videos they wish to watch to help everyone reflect on what kindness truly means in our daily lives. This self-direction in choosing resources makes the experience much more personal and impactful for them and for the whole class.

'It's been fun learning more and participating in our own worship.' - Angel

'It is nice to chose a theme every week. The best week so far was fairness.' - Isabella

'I think it's nice because everyone gets a turn to be the leader of the worship and my favourite part is when we get to make up our own prayers.' - Elodie

It is a joy to witness this genuine enthusiasm and leadership in Year 5!
