Reception- exploring the ice

 Reception class loved coming back to school this week, especially because of the snow! We discussed what makes snow and ice and the children had some lovely discussions about everything we could find that was frozen. 

'The sand is frozen too'- Gideon. 

We went on a hunt around our outdoor area to find everything which had frozen- there was lots to find. We tried to have a snowball fight, but it hadn't snowed quite enough. 

'I can write my name in the snow'- Valentina. 

The children were all very careful in the slippery conditions and we came up with some rules to keep us safe before we headed out. 

'If we run we will slip over'- Ethan. 

'It's like an ice rink'- Jesse-Joy

'There's a leaf frozen inside'- Quinn

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
