Y6 RE Big Question group planning in the sun!

This week, the children have been thinking deeply about the meaning of Lent and how it helps Catholics grow closer to God. They explored how Lent is a special time for reflection, change, and renewal. While enjoying the spring sunshine, the children worked collaboratively in groups to plan their ideas, sharing thoughtful discussions and supporting one another in their learning.

The children understood that Lent encourages Catholics to turn away from sin by saying sorry to God and trying to make better choices. They reflected on scripture, such as “Return to me with all your heart” (Joel 2:12), which helped them see that Lent is about coming back to God with sincerity.

They also learned about Jesus as a role model. By studying the story of Jesus in the desert (Luke 4:1–13), the children discussed how he resisted temptation and how this inspires Christians to stay strong and make good choices, even when it is difficult.

We did all this working in groups and enjoying the spring sunshine!
