🦁🕮 Year 2 - a new....wild....book!

Year 2 had an exciting start to their new English unit, based around a book called

 'Wild Magic - Legend of the Black Lion,' 

by Abiola Bello. It is set in Ethiopia.

Mrs Griffiths had a mystery bag containing clues about the story.... a safari hat, binoculars and a picture of a black lion!


The children made predictions using these clues alongside information they had taken from the book cover and blurb. We then read chapter one together and noted down important things we had learnt about each character so far.

As we continue reading, we will practise and refine important reading skills (sequencing, summarising) and use key narrative skills (describing, linking ideas, using a variety of punctuation) to write our own adventure story!

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
