Year 6 Trip to Duxford IWM

Year 6 had a fantastic trip to the Imperial War Museum in Duxford on Wednesday 11th March. The children were incredibly excited to explore the museum and see the enormous historic aircraft and military vehicles up close. It was a brilliant opportunity for them to step outside the classroom and experience history in a real and engaging way.

A highlight of the day was a special workshop with two veterans, John and Robert. They shared their personal experiences of serving in the armed forces and spoke thoughtfully about their lives and memories. The children listened brilliantly and asked some excellent questions, making the session both inspiring and memorable for everyone involved.


Overall, the trip was a huge success. The pupils represented the school wonderfully and gained a deeper understanding of history through this hands-on experience. It was a truly enjoyable and valuable day of learning that Year 6 will remember for a long time.

Bawdsey Day 2

Today has been another action-packed day here at Bawdsey, with the children up bright and early, full of energy and excitement for what lay ahead. After a hearty hot breakfast to fuel the morning, the first activities kicked off: canoeing and Survivor (a fantastic session of den building and outdoor skills). The children embraced the challenge, showing great teamwork and creativity as they constructed their shelters and took to the water with enthusiasm. Following a tasty lunch, the afternoon brought even more thrills with the giant swing — a definite favourite! There were plenty of cheers (and a few nervous giggles) as each child took their turn. We rounded off the day’s activities with a problem-solving session, where teamwork, communication, and thinking outside the box were the keys to success.
