Happy Summer St Pius X Catholic Primary!

Image
Here we are again, at the end of another year of enriched activities and experiences at St Pius X Catholic Primary!  This week, in our Year 6 Leaver's Mass, Father Paul reminded us that God is always with us, and gives us the strength to cope with the challenges we face in life.  Our Year 6 children leave us to begin a new journey at their secondary schools and we will be thinking of them in September as they make this transition.  The rest of our children will be moving up to different year groups with new class teachers.  This can be a big change for some pupils but as always, the adults will support them with this transition and we are reminded that God gives us strength too. While we are busy finishing the term, we are also planning lots of events for the new year.  It's important to pause and take time to reflect on the wonderful opportunities we have all had and to thank God for the wonderful school we have.   Our school is very much part of the Church's mission and s

Year 6 Mass and Leavers Assembly

On Tuesday 16th July, we celebrated the Year 6 Mass and Leavers Assembly, a significant milestone for our departing pupils. The day commenced with a special Mass, led by Father Paul, which featured pupils leading prayers, readings and songs. This was then followed by a presentation of gifts and Leavers Assembly. Highlights included pupil speeches, which reflected on the pupils fond memories and achievements at St Pius X. The event concluded with performances by the Year 6 pupils, making it a memorable and heartfelt farewell.

The school welcomed parents and siblings to look around the school with their children, sharing their books and accomplishments from throughout the year.  Each class showcased their work in the hall, including topic work, writing, trips, sports competitions and some of their work from our recent Creative Arts Week.  Children and families were also encouraged to meet their new teachers before our Transition Session today. Thanks to all those who attended and helped us to celebrate another successful year at St Pius X.

100 and 200 reads prizes

Image
Today the children who have made an extra effort with their reading homework over the year have received their prizes! Those who have ready 100 times or over received a lolly and those who have read 200 times received an ice cream!  This is a huge achievement and these children have shown our learning powers of resilience and reflectiveness in their attitudes towards reading at home! We have over 90 children received 100 or 200 read certificates this year - well done St Pius X!  I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve next year!

Girls’ football team finish division runners up!

Image
A massive well done to our girl's football who won two out of their three league games to finish division runners up! The girls really came together as a team, showing determination and resilience to bounce back after losing their first league game. It's a huge achievement, given that some of the team had never played a game of football before! Mr Cook and Mr Kelly look forward to an exciting season next year. Well done girls! Team Captain Jess -  I thought we did really well and worked well as a team. I think we can win it next year!

Boys’ football team are winners!

Congratulations to our boy's football team who are Chelmsford small school champions! Having won their league, they progressed to the final and won 12-1. An unbelievable result from a fantastic football team. Mr Cook and Mr Kelly are proud of how the boys conducted themselves on the pitch. They supported each other, worked well as a team and were gracious winners. Enjoy the gold medals boys and well done again! Team Captain Seni - It was a great win. I'm excited to see how the new team gets on next year with the Year 4s who are coming up!

Today, Year 6 students enjoyed their leavers' lunch outside under the beautiful, sunny sky. The weather was perfect, adding to the joyous atmosphere as they celebrated their time together. A big thank you goes out to Mrs. Hughes for her creativity and hard work in making a wonderful leaving cake that was a highlight of the event.

Olympic Medal Art in Year One

Image
For Creative Arts week, Year One learned all about the Paris Olympics. To conclude our learning, we designed our own medals out of clay! "I'm using a pencil pot to help make my medal a perfect circle" - Amayah "I'm using a roller to help me flatten my medal" - Maria "I rolled mine into a ball and now i'm going to use a roller to flatten it!" - Aisling "I used yellow to make my medal a 1st place medal!" - Reuben "I made a rainbow medal! It can be for anyone" - Amayah "We learned that the Olympics were invented in Greece!" - Irene "I used bronze paint to make a medal for 3rd place" - Jayan "If I was in the Olympics I would play football!" - Kian "I'm very proud of my medal" - Alex Great work, Year One!
